    What are the two main tasks of the Data Bus Diagnostic Interface J533?

    * Answer

    The Data Bus Diagnostic Interface J533 is responsible for coordinating communication and power states across the vehicle’s CAN networks. Its two core tasks are:

    1. Managing Terminal 15 run-on for the drivetrain CAN bus

    After the ignition is switched off, some control units still need to exchange data for a short period.
    J533 initiates Terminal 15 run-on, allowing key ECUs to remain powered temporarily. When their post-run tasks are complete, J533 sends the command to end run-on and transition toward sleep.

    2. Controlling sleep and wake-up modes across the vehicle’s data buses

    J533 supervises the readiness of the drivetrain, convenience, and infotainment CAN buses.
    It performs two functions:

    • Wake-up:Activates relevant CAN networks when a triggering event occurs (e.g., door unlock).
    • Sleep:Ensures the networks power down only when all ECUs are ready, preventing premature shutdown and communication loss.

    In summary:
    J533 maintains stable communication after ignition-off through Terminal 15 run-on, and it orchestrates the orderly wake-up and sleep behavior of the vehicle’s CAN networks.
