    Quartz is the only material with the following characteristics: z piezoelectric properties (“pressure-electric properties”) z with zero temperature coefficient cut z with stress compensated cut z low loss (ie high Q), easy to process.In artificially grown single crystal quartz, the annual output is more than 3,000 tons, and the growth is second only to silicon (up to 1997, the annual growth is 3 to 4 times that of silicon).
