    When the current through the conductive filament is large and the Joule heat generated is too much, the conductive filament may spontaneously fuse, and the device exhibits a monostable threshold transition phenomenon.When the ambient temperature is 118K, the Pt/NiO/Pt device has stable unipolar transition characteristics after forming (10mA current limit), as shown in Figure

    (a).When the ambient temperature is raised to 300K, the device exhibits a monostable threshold transition characteristic, as shown in Figure

    (b).This experiment confirmed that Joule heat plays a leading role in the resistance transition process.In the ECM mechanism device, there is also a problem of the instability of the conductive filament caused by Joule heat, which also causes the phenomenon that the low resistance state of the device cannot be maintained.
